Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story film was released, launching the animation giant as a major film company and introducing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
In the teaser shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a carnival and helping prize toys find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge pinned to her outfit.
Hopefully she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
