The Gaming Giant Brings Onboard Apex Legends Producer to Rescue Challenged Action Game Project Ethos

2K Games has welcomed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to lead the development team at their internal studio, which is currently crafting the forthcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as this innovative game.

Leadership Change Comes After Lukewarm Feedback

The new appointee assumes the leadership position at 31st Union following the exit of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to the game's underwhelming initial reveal last fall.

On Wednesday, 2K president David Ismailer informed employees about this decision through an official communication, which highlighted that playtesting had revealed the requirement for a distinct direction.

Ismailer stated that the team is now reimagining Project Ethos with a renewed vision, aiming to better meet community desires.

A Pattern of Key Hires

This announcement follows a similar action taken by the publisher in the summer, when they hired an industry veteran from the Diablo team to contribute to the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.

Here is the entire text from Ismailer's communication:

Hello Everyone—

I know you all just completed your meeting - I trust you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the recent updates. Previously I sent you all a message, I stated the following: “I am confident in this team. You all are some of the most dedicated and innovative developers we have had the opportunity to partner with - and we’re excited for that partnership to continue.”

Given your hard work and adaptability, especially over the past twelve months, you repeatedly show that.

The player input from last fall’s the game playtest was informative. It affirmed the potential of a action-packed game but indicated we still had work to do. It highlighted the necessity for a clearer identity.

It has been motivating to see how far you’ve come. You took the criticism to consideration and reimagined the title with a revitalized vision - one that’s ready to fulfill its ambition to our fans.

The trust in this project increases every day. To further the outstanding development you’ve made, It is a pleasure to announce the new hire as the incoming Studio Head of 31st Union. After some time of talks, Ben starts with us on next week.

Ben’s leadership and background in the PVP shooter space is vast, having spent the past decade and a half developing and overseeing some of the most popular franchises in gaming, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and more recently, the battle royale hit.

I invite you all in greeting Ben next week. We are all eager to keep witnessing the progress of the game in the months to ahead.

David
