A person who contaminated candy with sedative and provided them to children at a youth camp in the region has confessed to sexual crimes against two young males both between nine and ten.

The accused was detained after eight minors and an older person became sick at the facility in July.

The 76-year-old, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he denied a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.

Ruben was kept in jail ahead of a additional proceeding on 28 November.

'Treat game'

The legal representative, prosecuting, described the criminal behavior to the court.

She explained his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a summer camp which he operated.

The man played a "treat game" with the children, the legal counsel said, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".

She stated to the judge Ruben had conducted this practice with the boys "repeatedly", and children had previously fallen ill the next day.

She said the defendant had been capable of justifying this for many years as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had suspicions in recently.

The prosecutor added: "In the summer" his stepson had suspicions about what was going on, for good reason.

"They resolved" to investigate in the individual's items."

The legal counsel explained items including infant oil, Vaseline and injection devices were discovered, and his stepchild alerted the authorities about his worries.

She stated Ruben proceeded to play the "treat game" with six children that time - that Saturday - and they were all sick the following morning.

"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that stage," she stated further.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.

The prosecutor said the minors were struggling to walk due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson notified the authorities again.

She stated the defendant then engaged in the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
