Indianapolis Colts Battle Falcons in Berlin – NFL Week 10
Hello, fussball fans. How are you? Alles klar I hope on this excellent early start to the tenth week coming straight outta Deutschland. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be precise where at 8.30am CST/9.30am EST and 2.30pm GMT the mighty Indianapolis Colts (7-2) face off against the Atlanta Falcons (3-5). This marks the fifth matchup played on German soil and the first in the nation’s capital.
Pre-match Key Moments
As sparkly jackets go that is an real standout from Katarina Witt on the opening flip. A minor slip from the broadcast team there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the commentator with an accidentally live microphone.
Well, the Colts have won the toss and have elected to receive. Daniel Jones and company will be setting up shortly. Can the quarterback recover after a difficult performance in Pittsburgh?
In a similar vein the singer belting out the US national anthem has some of the largest shoulder pads you are ever likely to see. The fashion picks are impressive today. We are almost underway after a choir performance for the national anthem of Germany. Elegant.
First Quarter Action
Scoreless at 13:30 in the first
Here we go! And we have an exciting start after the Colts running back catches a screen pass, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right side then loses the ball … only for his center to recover the fumble with the ball retrieval. Colts are in Falcons territory already.
Still scoreless at 10:51
And the excitement continues as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The risk doesn't work out as Josh Downs fails to catch a fastball from the quarterback. Prior to the failed attempt the Falcons defender put a massive tackle on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. Atlanta's defense started strong as they try and snap their three-game losing streak. Following that, Sauce Gardner makes his first appearance!
Touchdown Updates
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-0 Falcons 8:36, 1st quarter
Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was very open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That moment reflects the high draft pick's professional journey to date.
So far, so disappointing but it only deteriorates for the Atlanta as they turn over possession to the Colts on the 23-yard line. The Falcons quarterback is sacked and fumbles the football.
A nifty 22-yard run from the Colts receiver sets the running back up to easily run for a touchdown on the following play. Kicker Michael Badgley misses the point after attempt. Mistake.
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-7 Falcons 6:07, 1st quarter
The quarterback recovers from the turnover by marching his Falcons down the field for a score of their own. Drake London makes some substantial catches to put them in the red zone then the defense opens up for the running back to run untouched into the end zone through the middle of the defense for a 13-yard gain. He completes the drive for a short scoring run of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
Other Tenth Week Games
Additionally, the full slate starting at 12pm CST/1pm EST/6pm GMT (with home teams first) is as follows:
(5-4) Carolina Panthers v New Orleans Saints (1-8)
(5-3) Bears v Giants (2-7)

(4-4) Minnesota Vikings v Baltimore Ravens (3-5)
(1-7) Jets v Browns (2-6)
(6-2) Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Patriots (7-2)
An exciting lineup. I’m planting my flag on Minnesota and Baltimore playing out the top contest of the day.
